FFA members can ‘Farm for Their Chapter’ in Nutrien’s contest

The Farmers 2050 app isn’t just a virtual farm game. This fall, it’s a chance for FFA members nationwide to raise real money for their chapters while learning how to sustainably feed the world.

Nutrien Ag Solutions has launched the FFA Global Event Contest, open to all FFA chapters across the United States. From now until November 2, 2025, chapters can compete in the digital farming challenge to earn donations of up to $1,000 for their local programs.

Through the Farmers 2050 game, players build farms, make management decisions, and explore the economics of sustainability. To qualify, FFA participants must reach level 5 in the app to join or create a team. Once there, up to 50 players per team can collaborate to boost production, manage resources, and climb the leaderboard. Advisors or members can create the chapter’s team, and each team will be scored individually.

The top three teams in the nationwide contest will win direct donations from Nutrien:

  • 1st Place: $1,000
  • 2nd Place: $500
  • 3rd Place: $250

If multiple teams tie, winners will be drawn at random from among the high scorers.

FFA advisors, who must be at least 18 years old, are responsible for registering their chapters and guiding students through setup. The contest is open to FFA members aged 13 and older with parental consent, and all gameplay is free through the App Store or Google Play.

“Farmers 2050 is as close as you can get to the realities of owning and operating a farm in a gaming format. It’s a great educational resource for students interested in pursuing a career in the agriculture industry because it simulates the decision-making process that farmers are faced with each day,” said Spencer Harris, Senior Vice President of Global Retail Operations, and member of the National FFA Foundation Sponsors Board. “We’re looking forward to seeing a bit of friendly competition between FFA chapters during convention to see who lands on the leaderboard.”

The Farmers 2050 contest aligns with Nutrien’s mission to grow sustainable agriculture and inspire the next generation of food producers. By linking virtual learning to real-world impact, the initiative lets students explore what it takes to feed a growing population while supporting the FFA communities that prepare them to do it.
